Foresight launched the findings of its Tackling Obesities: Future Choices Project on 17 October 2007
A wide range of organisations took an interest in the project as it developed. Many interested parties contributed their expertise to the process of assembling and analysing the evidence. In a variety of ways through the course of its development the work of the project contributed to shaping people’s thinking. Most significantly, in the final phases of the project, the emerging findings contributed to government thinking, informing the development and refinement of the government’s strategy for action on obesity, and the cross-cutting systems for managing its implementation.
But the work of a Foresight project doesn’t end with the launch of its findings.
In addition to the activities undertaken through the life of the project, the organisations listed in this Follow up actions document have committed themselves to engaging with and disseminating the findings in the ways specified. We anticipate that other organisations will also respond over the coming months.
The sponsoring minister will chair the project’s One Year Review in autumn 2008, to take stock of progress in the light of the findings. The outcomes from the commitments in this document will form part of that progress report.
