Erratum
It has been drawn to our attention that there is an error in a technical report, published as part of the Tackling Obesities: Future Choices project leading to a slight underestimate in the future wider costs of obesity and overweight. The revised estimated cost of people being overweight or obese by 2050 is £49.9 billion from the original estimate of £45.5 billion.
The technical report by Professor McPherson et al Modelling Future Trends in Obesity & Their Impact on Health has been amended accordingly. (Download "Modelling Future Trends in Obesity & Their Impact on Health" Adobe PDF 3,178kb.) Foresight's report Tackling Obesities: Future Choices has also been amended to reflect the revised costs and is now available to download. Future printed editions of the report will also reflect these changes.
