'Making space for water consultation exercise' - July to 1 November 2004

This Defra - led exercise will inform the development of the new, cross-Government strategy for flood and coastal erosion risk management in England, which is scheduled for publication in early 2005. The Future Flooding report will have made a significant contribution in informing both the development of the consultation document and in due course, the strategy itself.

7 July 2003 - Following 7 July 2003 conference the draft overview report of phase 2 (impacts) is available.

27 June 2002 - Flood and Coastal Defence project holds its Scoping Seminar chaired by Sir John Houghton and Professor David King. Following on from the seminar we would welcome your views to help with defining the project.

29 April 2002 - Lord Sainsbury welcomes the Flood and Coastal Defence Foresight Project. Read the Press Notice.

7 July 2003 -Phase 2 Event - 7 July 2003

A major project conference took place on 7 July 2003 in London. The conference reported on completion of the work on future flood risk impacts and explored proposals for the next project phase on responses. You can read the report on impacts and an event report will be published shortly.

27 June 2002 -A small Scoping Seminar was held to assist with defining the project, the agenda is available here. Places at this event were very limited so we also canvassed views through this website. Documents related to the process are published on the Defining the Project pages including the outcomes of this stage Responses to Discussion Paper.
