Shaping the world into one we want to live in means being aware of the future, however uncertain it may be. The UK Government's Foresight programme, alongside the Horizon Scanning Centre, uses science based methods to provide visions of the future. Although we can't predict the future, our research methods are useful in helping us to identify potential risks and opportunities in relation to science and technology, which can enable policymakers to develop strategies to manage our future better.
The Foresight Programme and Horizon Scanning Centre are based in the Government Office for Science based within the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills.
